Who are we? Molokai Robotics gives students the opportunity and means to design, construct, program, and operate competition robots. In these competitions, alliances of paired robotics teams from different schools compete against each other in a game in which the robots try to score and accumulate the greatest number of points. There are new challenges annually, pushing the limits of our creativity. In addition to competitions, Molokai Robotics also provides avenues of opportunity for students who are interested in the fields of business and media. Students learn how to create a business plan, budget, write grants, sponsorship letters, and track financials. On the media end, students learn photography, videography, post-production, generating press releases and social media posts.
Our Mission Statement:
Our mission is to inspire Molokai students to pursue science, technology, engineering and math careers through competition robotics. Through robotics, we engage students in relevant project based learning involving engineering, documentation, and mathematics, and to build their problem solving, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Competition
Molokai Robotics' competition teams currently participates in VEX and FIRST Robotics Competitions.
"VEX Competitions bring STEM skills to life by tasking teams of students with designing and building a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communication, and more. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels and culminate at the VEX Robotics World Championship each April!" For more information, visit VEX Robotics
"Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology, we call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.”" For more information, visit FIRST Robotics
